Remedial Massage Therapy FAQs

  • Remedial Massage Therapy is a specialised treatment designed to alleviate pain, tension, and discomfort in the body. It’s particularly beneficial for those dealing with sports injuries, chronic pain, or simply needing to unwind. At NOOU Health & Wellness, this therapy is tailored to address a wide range of conditions, including highly searched issues like back pain, neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, and chronic headaches. By combining traditional techniques with modern innovations, each session is customised to help you move better, reduce pain, and enhance your overall well-being.

  • If you’re experiencing general pain or discomfort from everyday activities, Remedial Massage is likely the best choice. If you’re an athlete or physically active and need help with recovery, injury prevention, or performance enhancement, Sports Massage may be more suitable.

  • Sports massage is highly beneficial for athletes, especially runners, cyclists, and triathletes, who regularly engage in repetitive, high-intensity activities. This type of massage is tailored to your specific sport and individual needs, helping to prevent injuries, enhance performance, and speed up recovery.

    • For Runners:

Sports massage can help alleviate tightness in the hamstrings, calves, and other lower body muscles, reducing the risk of common running injuries such as shin splints and IT band syndrome.

    • For Cyclists:

The massage often focuses on the lower back, knees, and quads, which are heavily used during cycling. Regular sessions can help relieve muscle tension, improve flexibility, and prevent overuse injuries.

    • For Triathletes:

Given the diverse demands of swimming, cycling, and running, sports massage for triathletes is geared towards maintaining overall flexibility, preventing injuries, and ensuring that all muscle groups are functioning optimally.

Regular sports massages, especially during training cycles and after major events, can help keep your body in peak condition, ensuring that you’re always ready for your next challenge.

  • Remedial Massage Therapy at NOOU Health & Wellness is highly versatile and can be used to treat various conditions and injuries. Whether you’re recovering from a sports injury, dealing with chronic pain, or managing day-to-day discomfort, this therapy is effective in addressing issues such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, and chronic headaches. By tailoring each session to the specific condition, I aim to provide relief that helps you move better and live more comfortably.

  • During your first appointment, we’ll begin with a 10-15 minute discussion about the reasons you’re here, your case history, and any relevant medical reports you might have. This allows me to tailor the treatment to your specific needs. After this discussion, I’ll conduct a physical assessment to determine the best techniques to use during your session.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. For general maintenance, a session every 4-6 weeks is typical. However, if you’re dealing with an injury or chronic pain, more frequent sessions may be recommended.

  • Yes, I’m accredited with all major health funds. If you have the appropriate level of extras cover, you can claim immediate reimbursement through my HICAPS terminal.

  • It’s best to wear comfortable clothing. For most treatments, you will be asked to undress to your comfort level, and you’ll be covered with a towel during the session.

  • After a massage, it’s common to feel relaxed, and you might experience reduced tension and pain in the treated areas. However, some clients may feel slightly sore, particularly if deep tissue techniques were used. This is a normal response as your muscles adjust to the treatment. To help your body recover, I recommend drinking plenty of water, resting if needed, and avoiding strenuous activities for the rest of the day.

  • The Remedial Massage clinic is situated in the heart of Sydney CBD at WELLSHARE, on Level 5 of The Dymocks Building, 424-428 George Street. This central location is easily accessible, being just a short 5-minute walk from both Town Hall Station and Martin Place. If you’re driving, you’ll find several secure parking options nearby around George Street and other prominent landmarks.
